Diary of adultery is an American comedy film directed by Frank Perry in 1970 based on the novel by Sue Kaufman.

Action

Tina Balser is a bored housewife and mother from New York City who is married to Jonathan Balser, a pompous, Ascended lawyer who mocks them before their children and criticized everything she does or attracts. She then begins a love affair with George Prager, an elegant, successful and blatantly sadistic writer. When he finally she torments just as Jonathan did and was unfaithful, she returns to her husband and begins a group psychotherapy.

Awards

Carrie Snodgress, who in 1972 was nominated for Best Newcomer in a Leading Role at the Academy Awards 1971 in the category Best Actress and a Society of Film and Television Arts Award, won the 1971 Golden Globe Award for Best Newcomer and Best Actress in a Comedy. She also won two Laurel Awards for Best Actress in a Drama and Best Young Actress.

Richard Benjamin was nominated for a Golden Globe for best actor in a comedy as well as the movie itself best in the Golden Globe category film. Frank Langella was nominated for a Golden Globe for best young actor and won the National Board of Review as best young actor.

Criticism
