Dicistroviridae

The Dicistroviridae are a family of RNA viruses that infect various species of insects. The Dicistroviridae infect among other Aphididae, flies, leafhoppers, bees, ants and silkworm.

Genome

Dicistroviren possess a genome of a single-stranded RNA molecule of positive polarity, which carries the viral protein VPg on the 5'-end and at the 3 ' end a poly -A tail. The name is derived from the dicistronic Dicistroviridae structure of the genome, they do not have two overlapping open reading frames. Some Dicistroviren were originally counted among the picornaviruses. Dicistroviren are counted in the picornavirus -like superfamily, which also includes the Comoviridae, Iflavirus, Picornaviridae, Potyviridae and Sequiviridae belong.
