The doctors published until September 2013 thirteen studio albums and six live albums. In addition, seven compilations came on the market; one of them exclusively in Japan. The scrapbook men do not have brains make the doctors only as a free download on their homepage. The concert album Jazzfäst is sold as a download or USB stick. By March 2012, 50 Singles and EPs were issued.
With the triple live album After us the deluge reached the doctors in 1988 first number one in the German Album Charts. Since 1998, five studio albums and a best-of album arrived at the top of the German charts. The most successful single was a pig named men with number one rankings in 1998 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Singles Unrockbar from 2003 and Young from 2007 also got to the top of the German charts.
The doctors were concerned for 6.8 million in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for 155,000 to 133,000 sold sound and image carriers with numerous gold and platinum records.
The doctors made since 1982 Farin from the frontmen holiday on guitar and Bela B. on drums; Bassist was Sahnie to 1986, which was then replaced until they disbanded in 1988 by Hagen Liebing (only at concerts, not studio productions ). Since the founding in 1993 playing The doctors in the same band members: Farin Urlaub, Bela B. and bass player Rodrigo González. In most songs either Farin Urlaub and Bela B. sings the melody. Rodrigo González can be heard only in a few pieces in the foreground.
The debut album Debil have produced The doctors along with Stan shelf and Matthias Härtl, the album In the Shadow of the doctors produced Micki Meuser and the third studio album titled The doctors came under the guidance of producer Manfred Praeker, of the recordings in addition also the bass played. Since 1988 and the album That's not the whole truth, the band works exclusively with producer Uwe Hoffmann. Since 2007, the band produced their albums themselves
The first singles released The doctors about the Berlin independent label frills (later multi-tonal music production ). From 1984 until they disbanded in 1989 CBS Schallplatten GmbH moved the music of The Doctors. After the founding of the band in 1993 it came to a conclusion with the Metronome Musik GmbH, the Phonograms the band published until its dissolution and distribution. Since 1998 and the album 13 release The doctors their productions under the band's own label Hot Action Records. Sales are made since then on the German record company Universal Music.

The band has appeared in various albums artist friend and in several compilations in appearance. In the following list in the Type column by Guest Post (G) and compilation (K ) distinguished. The album Twilight of the Gods in 1997 is a tribute by various artists Doctors. The band itself does not occur in it, however, is the author of all music production.
