Die Neue Sammlung

Die Neue Sammlung Munich - The International Design Museum Munich, formerly the State Museum of Applied Arts - is regarded as the first design museum in the world, long before there was the word.

Their creation is closely intertwined with the founding of the German Werkbund in Munich in 1907, she was institutionalized in 1925 as a state museum of the state of Bavaria. Today it is one of the world's leading museums in this area and is responsible for the collection Design in the Pinakothek der Moderne, the collection design in the Neues Museum in Nuremberg and the International Museum of Ceramics in pastures.

The opening of the Pinakothek der Moderne in September 2002 means for Die Neue Sammlung a decisive turning point: After 75 years, this exhibition activity probably leading design museum in the world was now able to show its holdings in the long run. The unappreciated international awards presentation of the collection 's design follows the architectural structure of the building with varied spatial situations from the monumental entrance on the spatial sequence with the historic trail to the tall, two-story rooms, which open to the exterior or to the other levels in the building.

The museum has around 80,000 objects, the world's largest "permanent collection" to Industrial and Product Design, to Graphic Design and Craft of pioneering pioneers in 1850 about the pioneers of modernity into the 21st century.
