The Stem van Suid -Afrika (literally: The Voice of South Africa, rather loosely translated as The Call of South Africa; engl The Call of South Africa. ) Was from 1957 to 1994, the official National anthem of South Africa.
History
The Afrikaans text of the Stem van Suid -Afrika was written by CJ Langenhoven as a poem in May 1918. The music composed in 1921 Reverend ML de Villiers. The anthem was played by the South African Broadcasting along with God Save the King as the end of his daily program, and in 1928 sang for an official purpose. Since 1952, the English version of the anthem is ( The Call of South Africa) in use.
On May 2, 1957 The Stem van Suid - Afrika by the South African government was officially proclaimed the national anthem of the country, which was confirmed by Parliament in 1959 by law. Sung were the first verses each.
