Geography

Empfertshausen lies in the Thuringian Rhön in the south of Wartburg circle on the main road 285 neighboring municipalities are Neidhartshausen in the north, Kaltennordheim the east and south, Empfertshausen in the west and Zella / Rhön in the northwest.

History

Diedorf was first mentioned in 788 as Theodorpf in a deed to the monastery of Fulda documented. Culture and sights

  • On a hill lies the Protestant church, designed as a church hall and built in 1785. It surrounds a small cemetery with the war memorial in the church wall. The baptismal font with coat of arms dates from 1605, from the previous church, it was burned down.
  • On the Hoehn there are the remains of the medieval castle Fischbach that the quarry operation on the west side of the mountain was in some cases the victim.
