Diego (Band)

Diego is a Indie-Rock/New-Wave-Band founded in 2005 in Karlsruhe.

History

Diego was founded in Karlsruhe in 2005. 2006, the band recorded eight songs, which appeared on 1 June 2007 on a self-titled EP on Rookie Records. In April 2008 the first album Two was recorded, which was released on 31 October 2008 on Noise Deluxe Records. Plattentests.de writes: " Tender melancholy breaks with longing hope rending melodies invaded backwards and hit fits seamlessly to hit. " Sonic Seducer speaks of " cool elegance ".

From February 2010 the band recorded with producer Kurt Ebelhäuser on the second album Gold. It was published on 24 September 2010 under sheep Records. Intro calls it " a total of one step forward", but criticized that " Diego then again a little sink at the end of the arbitrariness deposit too little characteristic features and weave in too little corners and edges. " Sonic Seducer, however, noted the increased use bass and speaks of post-punk " with occupied vocals and guitar zwirbelnder " what in the German music scene is rare.

By the end of 2011, the two founding members Drazan Dodik and Christian Fluri leave the band. The three remaining band members decided only once to make a little break, but not to terminate without a new album for the end of 2013.

Since late 2006, Diego has played over 100 concerts in Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland.

Style

Diego play indie rock with New Wave bonds and are often compared to bands like Joy Division, Editors and Interpol. These similarities led in the case of the album Two even to the fact that the band of critics has been repeatedly accused of plagiarism.
