Dieter Sauberzweig

Dieter Sauberzweig ( born November 17, 1925 in Frankfurt ( Oder), † 28 December 2005 ) was a German politician culture.

Life

Sauberzweig, son of Karl- Gustav Sauberzweig, grew up in Berlin, Hannover and Vienna, where he completed his secondary education in 1942. In the same year he was drafted for military service. After the war he completed an apprenticeship in Schleswig -Holstein in 1947 and then studied at the University of Hamburg history, education, psychology and philosophy. As early as 1950 and until 1971 he worked part-time at various broadcasters as a freelancer. From 1953 he worked for the Study Foundation of the German people, a doctorate in Hamburg a year later and got into the Academic Foundation until 1960 as the Executive Board Member on. 1966 Sauberzweig was Assistant Secretary of the German Association of Cities and climbed even there on the Presiding.

1977 appointed the new mayor of Berlin, Dietrich Stobbe, the SPD member Sauberzweig as a senator for culture in his cabinet. He remained until 1981, Senator (also Hans -Jochen Vogel). Only in the new CDU Senate had to vacate his seat Sauberzweig.

After his political career Sauberzweig in 1981 director of the German Institute of Urban Affairs in Berlin. He held until 1991 this position. From 1983 he was also Honorary Professor at the University of Konstanz. From 1999 to 2002 he was curator of the Capital Cultural Fund.

Sauberzweig was married twice and had two children.
