Diffusion transistor

As a diffusion transistor each transistor is known, wherein the electrically active regions by diffusion of impurity atoms ( dopants ) are in a semiconductor substrate (e.g. silicon wafer ) is prepared. Diffusion transistors include bipolar transistors and field effect transistors.

Employees of Bell Labs developed the first prototype of a Diffusionsbipolartransistors 1954, in which the base region was prepared in this way. Important representatives of this group of transistors include the Mesatransistor and the planar transistor.
