Difluoromethane is a gaseous, organic chemical compound from the group of fluorinated hydrocarbons ( HFCs).
Properties
Difluoromethane is a highly flammable gas which forms explosive mixtures with air. The explosion range is between 13.5 vol% as the lower explosive limit ( LEL) and 27.5 vol% as the upper explosive limit ( UEL). It is heavier than air and 3.65 g / l poorly soluble in water.
Use
CH2F2 place as a refrigerant use.
Environment
Difluoromethane is a greenhouse gas 675 times more potent than CO2. However, in contrast to the chlorofluorocarbon substances it is not ozone depleting. In the Kyoto Protocol, it is named as " hydrogen-containing fluorocarbon " whose emissions must be reduced.
