Digão

Digão (born 14 October 1985 in Brasília; civil Izecson Rodrigo dos Santos Leite ), is a Brazilian footballer. Digão plays in defense and was recently under contract with the New York Red Bulls.

Career

Digão began his career at FC São Paulo, where even his older brother, Kaka, learned to play football. In the summer of 2004, he spent 500,000 euros for AC Milan, where he played in the first year in the youth team and where it was on loan for a year at Rimini Calcio. In the summer of 2007, he return back to Milan, but he could not prevail in the team equipped with many top players and played just a game.

Therefore Digão changed in the summer of 2008 on loan to Liege, where he hoped for more match practice, but he could not get due to a torn ACL. In the following seasons, he has been awarded to U.S. Lecce, FC Crotone and FC Penafiel, but where he could not prevail. After his return in the summer of 2011, his contract ran out at AC Milan.

After almost a year without a club, Digão was committed by the U.S. first division club New York Red Bulls in September 2012. His debut Digão on 9 November 2012, when he in the game against DC United came off the bench in the 89th minute. On July 19, 2013 he dissolved his contract.

Trivia

Since Digão the name of his brother could not pronounce properly as a small child, he called him Kaka. This name carries his brother today as an artist name.
