Dimitar Nenov

Dimitar Nenow (also Dimitar Nenov, Bulgarian Димитър Ненов; born December 19, 1901 in Razgrad, † August 30 1953 in Sofia) was a Bulgarian composer.

Nenow studied piano with Andrei Stoyanov. In 1920 he went to Dresden to study architecture at the Technische Hochschule. At the same time at the Conservatory of the city, he took piano lessons with Karl Fehling and lessons in music theory and composition with Theodor Blumer and Paul Bitner. Between 1925 and 1927 he was musical director of the theater Jolles Ballet.

After completing his studies in 1927 Nenow returned to Bulgaria and worked until 1930 as an architect at the Ministry of Construction, also from 1929 to 1932 in the railway department. In 1931, he completed his piano studies with Egon Petri in Zakopane, a training at the Conservatory of Bologna, he finished in the following year.

1933 was one of the founding members Nenow the Society for Contemporary Music in Sofia, whose secretary and treasurer he was. He also gave piano lessons and directed the mid-1930s a private conservatory. In 1943 he was professor of piano at the State Music Academy.

As a piano soloist Nenow occurred except in Bulgaria, etc. in Denmark, Germany, Italy and Poland. Between 1937 and 1947 he led a piano trio with violinist Christo Obreschkow ( Hristo Obreshkov ) (later Christoskow Petar ( Petar Hristoskov ) ) and the cellist Konstantin Popov. As a chamber musician he has also performed with violinist Vladimir Avramov (Vladimir Avramov ).

Nenow composed, inter alia, a symphony, a ballad and four suites for orchestra, a piano concerto, a symphonic poem for soloists, choir and Ortchester, orchestral songs, chamber music and piano works.
