Dimitris Tsatsos

Dimitris Th Tsatsos (Greek Δημήτρης Θ Τσάτσος, born May 5, 1933, Athens, . † April 24, 2010 ibid ), was a Greek jurist and former Member of the European Parliament. He was the son of the politician and jurist Themistocles Tsatsos (1906-1971) and a nephew of the former President Konstantinos Tsatsos.

Life

After studying law at the University of Athens and Heidelberg made ​​the promotion and the first doctorate at the University of Athens. In 1968, Dimitris Tsatsos under the Greek military dictatorship not a lecture permit is available. Therefore He habilitated in 1968 for a second time at the Law and Economics Faculty of the University of Bonn. He taught there until 1974 as a professor. From 1974 to 1980 Tsatsos was a professor of constitutional law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During this time he became politically active as a member of the first Nachdiktaturparlaments. From 1980 to 1989 he was Chair of Constitutional Law at the Panteion University of Athens. At the same time he taught as a professor of German and International Constitutional Law at the University of Hagen. 1994-2004 Tsatsos was a member of the European Parliament in the Group of the Party of European Socialists. He was a doctor father of former national chairman of the FDP, Guido Westerwelle.

Tsatsos was an honorary citizen of Skiathos, Hersonissos and Neapolis ( Crete).
