Dimitry Ipatov

Dmitri Gennadjewitsch Ipatow (Russian: Дмитрий Геннадьевич Ипатов; * June 30, 1984 in Magadan ) is a Russian ski jumper.

Career

Ipatow was trained throughout his childhood by his father, a former ski jumper. On November 30, 2003, he debuted in the Ski Jumping World Cup in Kuusamo and reached the 43rd place. On 1 January 2005 he was erspringen on the Toni- Seelos- Olympic hill in Seefeld in Tirol his only previous victory in the Continental Cup. At the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin Ipatow reached when jumping from the normal hill with 242.5 points to 19th place, while individual competition on the large hill, he jumped up on the 27th place ( 197.1 points). In the team competition, he reached the 8th place as a member of the Russian team. Ipatows home club is the OSVSM Magadan.

The big break in the World Cup succeeded Ipatow in the season 2006/2007. Almost regularly, he reached the final passages in the season. His highlight was 5th place at the World Cup in Lahti on 11 March 2007. Another season highlight was the Universiade for him in 2007 when he won gold on the normal hill and bronze on the large hill. At the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010, he retired when jumping from the normal hill after the first passage of 46th.

In the first event after the games he failed in Lahti already in the qualification. Even with the team he reached only a disappointing 13th place in the team competition. Once again he clearly missed the points in Kuopio, he failed in Lillehammer and Oslo also qualify. In July 2010 he tried his luck at the Continental Cup in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, but had no chance again. At the Grand Prix in Hinterzarten he was disqualified in the individual competition after an eighth place in the team competition and stayed in Courchevel and Einsiedeln without success. Only in Wisła he jumped back into the top thirty. Starting in September, he jumped back in the Continental Cup and was able to in the second competition in Lillehammer points. After a good 12th place in the Grand Prix in Klingenthal he got at the beginning of the 2010/11 season another chance in the World Cup team to jump. According to an eighth place in the team jumping from Kuusamo stayed for Ipatow However, in the individual World Cup only rear qualification places. At the start of the World Cup season 2011/12 Ipatow jumped in Lillehammer on a surprisingly good 18th place. However, it remained the only placement in the points in the season. In the Ski Flying World Championships 2012 in Vikersund he joined after he narrowly missed the individual qualifiers, with the team in the team competition and reached this place nine. In the summer of 2012, Ipatow could rarely prevail. In Tchaikovsky he took ninth place in the Continental Cup, the Grand Prix jumping, it remained unsuccessful except for a few points in Almaty.

After he unsuccessfully launched in Sochi at the start of the World Cup season 2012/13, the now 28 -year-old slipped again in the B-team and remained until the Ski Flying World Cup in Harrachov with varying results in the Continental Cup.
