DINFIA IA 53
The FMA I.A. 53 Mamboretá (Eng. " praying mantis " ) was a single-engine agricultural aircraft in the Fabrica Militar de Aviones.
History of development
The development work for the FMA I.A. 53 began on 1 October 1964. The first prototype was mainly used for loading samples. The second prototype first flew on 13 November 1966. To a production run, it did not come.
A prototype is now on display at the Museo Nacional de Aeronáutica in Buenos Aires.
Construction
- Hull: Steel tube construction;, partially planked some with Dural with GRP; closed cockpit; for ferry flights behind the pilot room for a second person
- Structure: cantilever low- wing monoplane of all-metal construction with two spars; Split flaps
- Tail: cantilever normal construction, all-metal, gepfeiltes fin with aerodynamic balance
- Suspension: rigid chassis with tailwheel
