Dinguiraye

Dinguiraye is the capital of Dinguiraye Prefecture in Faranah region in Guinea. It is located on the National Road No. 30 The city is known for its huge mosque in the style of the local lodges, the famous thatched roof (see photo) has been replaced with a renovation in the early 1990s against a concrete dome.

The city played an important role in the West African history, El Hadj Umar Tall Dinguiraye made ​​to the starting point of his Jihad in the middle of the 19th century. She is still an important pilgrimage of Tidschaniyya Brotherhood.

Near the town are extensive gold deposits, which are exploited by the Societe Miniere de Dinguiraye also platinum, nickel and cobalt deposits were discovered.
