Dinorah or the pilgrimage to Ploërmel is a comic opera in three acts by the composer Giacomo Meyerbeer. The libretto was created in collaboration with Jules Barbier, Michel Carré based on the story Les chercheurs de trésor. This track was the work during its formation and was only renamed premiered by the composer.

The first version with the title Le Pardon de Ploërmel experienced on April 4, 1859 at the Opéra -Comique in Paris, his first performance. With the title Dinorah had this plant on 26 July of the same year debut at the Royal Opera House in London. Today, this piece will be performed primarily under the title Dinorah ou Le Pardon de Ploërmel.

Johann Christoph Grünbaum translated this work, and the end of 1859 this opera could be performed already at the ducal court theater in Coburg in German language.

Action

The house was destroyed by Dinorah family by a storm; on the very day when she wanted to marry Hoël. At the same time her fiance disappears into the mountains, as he has heard of a treasure that was to be found there. These events Dinorah goes mad and wanders from now with their goats through the solitude of the mountains.

( Overture, orchestra and choir ). In their aimless wanderings through the desert canyons to Dinorah can accompany only from their goats. It applies to the Corentin Bagpiper in solitude lives there ( duet with Corentin "bubble, bubble merrily away "). Now Hoël arrives at Corentin hut. The two fiance not recognize themselves, and Hoël wins Corentin for treasure hunting ( aria " Mächt'ge gap of Magic" ).

Dinorah shadow dance. Transformation - Gorge with a weir: A storm breaks out. As Hoël explores its way through the gorge to the treasure, Corentin accidentally discovers Dinorah that rests on the treasure a curse: He who touches this treasure as the first must die!
