Diogo Pinto

João Diogo Pinto ( born November 16, 1974 in Nampula, Mozambique ) is the Secretary General of the European Movement International ( EMI), one of the largest associations of European civil society with currently more than 70 member organizations.

Diogo Pinto was born in the former Portuguese colony of Mozambique and grew up in Guimarães in northern Portugal. Later, he studied sociology at the Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa ( ISCTE - IUL), Lisbon. From 1995 to 1998 he was President of the Portuguese National Youth Council, then Director of Inter- Cultura (AFS ) Portugal and Secretary-General of the European Youth Forum, before he was elected General Secretary of the International European Movement in 2009 and re-elected in 2012.

João Diogo Pinto is a member of the Spinelli Group and since 2010 member of the board of the " Foundation EurActiv POLITECH ".

He is also co- author of two books: 20 Idéias para 2020 - Inovar Portugal (2005) and Idéias Perigosas para Portugal ( 2010).
