Diolinoir

Diolinoir is a relatively young red variety. It is a new variety from 1970 by André Jaquinet Federale de Recherches of the station en Production Vegetale de Changins ( the Swiss Federal Research Station for Plant Production ( Agroscope RAC Changins ) in Pully ). It was developed by fertilization of Rouge de Diolly (also called Robin Noir ) with pollen from Pinot Noir; it is therefore often synonymous with " Diolly Noir" used. The Rouge de Diolly grape was taken in 1940 from the collection of Henry Wuilloud in Diolly sur Sion in the inventory of the stations fédérales.

The inclusion of Diolinoir happened in the stock to a vine to offer the wine farmer who matures under Swiss latitudes and at the same time has a concentrated structure, with tannins and good intensity of color. The vineyard area is 108 hectares (2007, Source: Office fédéral de l'agriculture OFAG ).

Diolinoir is very rot resistant. Means Ripe and very fertile, this grape a perfect ripening process to all taste and odor components needed to bring to completion. For this reason it is not recommended to plant it too far up in the vineyards, for that to be aimed at, ideally, must weight is over 90 degrees Oechsle. Read it later than the Pinot Noir, between the Gamay and Merlot. The grapes are medium in size, oblong, quite dense with a short stalk. The blue-black berries have a colorless juice and a juicy pulp. Diolinoir is essentially blends in use.
