Dionicio Cerón

Dionicio Cerón ( born October 9, 1965) is a retired Mexican long-distance runner, who was particularly successful in the marathon.

In 1990, he turned in Philadelphia with 1:00:46 set a world record in the half marathon. A year later he won the Rotterdam Marathon in second place.

In 1992 he won in 2:08:36 at the Beppu - Oita Marathon, 1993, he won the Rotterdam Marathon and the Fukuoka Marathon, in which he finished fourth last year, in the Weltjahresbestzeit of 2:08:51, and of 1994 to 1996 he won three times in a row, the London Marathon, where he set up his 1995 2:08:30 personal best.

In a marathon, the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 he won the silver medal behind Martín Fiz (ESP ) and before Luiz Antônio dos Santos ( BRA). In the 1996 Olympics he finished 15th place.

In 1997, he was finally third in the Boston Marathon.
