Dionysius of Vienne

Dionysius of Vienne ( † 193 in Vienne) was bishop of Vienne, martyr and saint.

Dionysius was of Greek origin. According to tradition, he was the successor of Justus as Bishop of Vienne and held this office since 177. Under Emperor Septimius Severus, he then suffered martyrdom. It is also possible a much later date; as the successor of Dionysius in the Episcopate applies Paracodus, his successor, Verus II, in turn, is assigned the beginning of the 4th century.
