Dipartimento delle Informazioni per la Sicurezza

The Dipartimento delle Informazioni per la Sicurezza (DIS ) is a department in the office of the Italian prime minister. It coordinates the Italian intelligence services.

The law on the reform of the Italian intelligence services of 3 August 2007, this department took over the former tasks of the previous coordination organ CESIS.

The DIS corresponds approximately to the Division 6 in the German Federal Chancellery.

The prime minister is politically responsible for the activities of the two intelligence services.   • Has the general authority over the intelligence services and, under certain circumstances, the arrangement of the Director General of the DIS and the approval of the Prime Minister to investigate special -duty incidents, the corresponding inspectors, among others special legal protection and status enjoy;
