Diplom-Jurist

Diplom- Jurist ( Dipl. -Jur. ) Is an academic degree, on the one hand in the GDR the standard degree for a law degree represented and the other hand for some years in the Federal Republic of Germany by most universities to their graduates after passing the first state examination is awarded.

GDR

In the GDR, the degree of Diplom lawyers had since the 1960s, usually completion of a law degree and has already introduced the qualifying for the exercise of judicial office completion dar.

Furthermore, the academic degree of a diploma lawyers was also awarded by the Graduate School of Law in Potsdam-Eiche, the College of the Ministry of State Security. Federal Republic of

The academic degree Diplom-Jurist/in ( Dipl. -Jur. ) Is awarded today in Germany by many law faculties or departments of universities after passing the first state exam or passed high school examination at the request of the graduates or automatically. Reason for this is that otherwise compared to graduates from other states who purchase with a graduation degree, existing inequities. Most of these schools award the degree also subsequently for former graduates of the First State Examination.

The introduction of the new Bachelor's and Master's degrees the previous degree and master's degrees have been replaced in most states. At the same time, most of higher education legislation provide for the possibility of providing state and church statements with an academic degree degrees. Some universities have subsequently revised their concept of graduation from lawyers.

Alternatively, the degree of Diplom- Jurist give some faculties after a successful first state exam the degree of Magister Juris ( Mag iur.), Such as those of the Universities of Konstanz ( Mag iur.) and Cologne ( Magister iuris (University of Cologne ) ). It is also awarded by some faculties the degree of lawyer ( Univ.). To avoid any confusion, but note that the University of Hamburg had offered the academic degree of Magister Juris as a stand-alone financial statements.

At the Justus -Liebig- University Giessen, the degree of Magister Juris Internationalis can be purchased. This graduate program is an independent study course which requires a year of study abroad, among others, and beyond the requirements of the the first state examination.

From an academic degree Diplom-Jurist/in ( Dipl. -Jur. ) Is the name given to delineate as a business lawyer. The academic degree Diplom-Wirtschaftsjurist/in ( Dipl. jur. Oec. ) Or Diplom-Wirtschaftsjurist/in ( FH) is awarded upon completion of an independent study. This course was originally developed at colleges, it's there but now also at numerous universities, for example in Erlangen / Nuremberg and Augsburg. Due to the Bologna process, most graduate degree programs and titles are but now nurmehr awarded under transitional arrangements and replaced with master 's degrees or titles.

Note, however, that the newly created academic degrees allow neither the admission to the legal profession nor the setting in the higher civil service law - most graduate lawyers are therefore still dependent for starting a career on the completion of the judicial service. Activities in the business or non- legal senior civil service, however, are of course possible.
