Dirk Stahmann

Dirk Stahmann ( born March 23, 1958) was football players in the highest DDR - Oberliga class football and played there exclusively for 1.FC Magdeburg. In the national football team of the GDR, he completed 46 games.

National

Stahmann spent his entire active football career at the 1 FC Magdeburg. After he had gone through all the youth teams of the club since 1967, he was in the second Cup semi-final match at the BFC Dynamo on March 25, 1978 ( 1:1) first used the age of 20 in the first men's team of Magdeburg. As the first FCM a month later won the East German football cup, Stahmann but not part of the squad. Between 1978 and 1991 he played in the DDR - Oberliga 278 point games and scored 33 goals there. Internationally

On many levels Stahmann had been active in international matches. With the 1 FC Magdeburg, he completed 21 games in the European Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Cup. Here he was most successful in the 1978/79 season, when he pushed forward with Magdeburg to the quarter-finals of the Cup Winners' Cup competition.

For international selection Stahmann honor came first in the GDR junior national team. From 1984, he played like in Magdeburg Libero and retained this position until his last international match on 15 November 1989 in the game Austria - German Democratic Republic (3-0). Among the most successful of its 46 A- internationals are the two qualifiers against Scotland (13 November 1983 EM 2-1) and against the Soviet Union (October 8, 1989 World Cup 2:1).

In the years 1983 and 1984 Stahmann was used in 16 qualifying matches of the GDR Olympic team. The team qualified for the Olympic football tournament while in Los Angeles, but the Olympic boycott the GDR prevented participation for Stahmann in the Olympic Games.

After the soccer career

After a 27- year life with football itself Stahmann turned to the professional life and was sales consultant at a Magdeburg dealership. However, as a club member he kept the connection to 1.FC Magdeburg still upright and stepped even on the Tradition team. In March 2009 Stahmann was appointed the 29th honorary member of the club.
