Dirty Drug

The term dirty drug ( to German dirty drug) referred pharmacological parlance, a drug that binds to various molekuläre binding sites or receptors in the brain. Although this is achieved at a wide range of effects, but it is also often unintended and unpredictable ( side) effects. Nowadays, it is attempted to achieve a specific drug for possible effect in order to maintain the undesirable effects minimized.

Examples

  • All ergoline dopamine agonists, ie dopamine agonists derived from the ergot alkaloids (see also lisuride ). They act at different receptors and not just the dopamine receptors to which they should aim.
