Disguised Masters

Disguised Masters is an album of Norwegian metal band Arcturus ( here under the name of Arcturus and the Deception Circus) with remixes, new recordings and unreleased songs. It was published in 1999 at Jester Records and distributed by Voices of Wonder.

Title list

" White Tie Black Noise " and " Deception Genesis" are new songs, "You Nordavind " a re-recording of the piece of the Constellation EP and the debut album Aspera hiems symfonia. The original versions of the remaining titles published in 1997 La Masquerade Infernal. After this the " curiosities " of Disguised Masters, which was produced by the band itself emerged. Arcturus warning on the back cover that this was not their new studio album, but a product of "musical disjunction ", the " general nonsense " would require.

Style

While the two new songs and the new recording of "You Nordavind " stylistically to tie in the theatrical combination of metal, electronic music and chamber music at La Masquerade Infernal, the remixes are by Umarrangierung and electronic processing by the style of the originals usually far away.

Reception

Jason Hundey of Allmusic found Disguised Masters interesting, but it is recommended that only fans of the band. Gunnar Claussen of the Baby Blue Pages considers it " a successful remix album with some very good and convincing many processes of the ' La Masquerade Infernale' material ". In the online magazine Vönger Disguised Masters is referred to as " a universe timelessly crazy music," in Rock Hard as " a logical link between ' La Masquerade Infernal ' and Ulver's ' Themes From William Blake's Marriage Of Heaven And Hell .'"
