Districts of Düsseldorf

This list of administrative divisions of Dusseldorf provides an overview of the 10 municipalities and 49 districts of the North Rhine - Westphalian capital Dusseldorf.

Since the last municipal restructuring in North Rhine -Westphalia in 1975, the form of the city districts in Dusseldorf has been introduced. Unlike other North Rhine-Westphalian cities such as Cologne or Duisburg the city districts have in Dusseldorf do not have proper names, but are merely indicated by a digit. The so-called Dusseldorf - law led to the annexation of several previously independent cities of Dusseldorf. The now belonging to Dusseldorf Districts were given by the new district councils have a say in city politics.

The same to the council elected for each township district councils each have 19 members. This elects from among its members a chairman, called the district director. On the one hand the local issues are discussed in the district councils, on the other hand they are to listen to those affecting the Municipality Council.
