DLG4

PSD -95 (of English. Postsynaptic density protein 95), and the SAP -90 ( synapse associated protein 90), is a protein consisting of the membrane-associated guanylate kinases ( MAGUK ) group, and is encoded by the gene DLG4. PSD -93, NMDA receptors and specific potassium channels can form complexes with PSD -95 protein complexes. PSD - 93, PSD -95 both interact at postsynaptic sites, to form a multimeric scaffold for the assembly of receptors, ion channels, and the associated signaling proteins.

PSD -95 is the best studied DLG protein. Like all MAGUK proteins PSD -95 contains in its structure three PDZ domains, an SH3 domain and a guanylate kinase -like domain ( GK). It is found almost exclusively in the postsynaptic density ( PSD) of neurons, of which the name of PSD -95 is derived. Possible binding partners are next to NMDA receptors and potassium channels also neuroligin and AMPA receptors.
