DLX1

The homeobox protein DLX -1 is a protein for which the gene encodes DLX1 known in humans.

Function

The gene encoded as a representative of the homeobox transcription factor gene family, the genes are very similar to " Distal-less " of Drosophila. The encoded protein is located in the nucleus, where it could act as a transport regulator of signals from several members of the TGF - β superfamily. The encoded protein may play in the control of Gesichtsschädelstrikturierung as well as the differentiation and the existence of inhibitory neurons in the forebrain play a role. The gene is located in a configuration with other members of the gene family on the long arm of chromosome 2 resulting from alternative splicing transcription variants that encode different protein isoforms have been described in detail.
