DLX5

The homeobox protein is a protein DLX 5 for encoding the known among people DLX5 gene.

Function

The gene is the Drosophila " Distal-less " genes ( DLX ) are very similar. The " Distal-less " ( Dlx ) gene family includes at least six different elements, DLX1 - DLX6. The encoded protein has a role in bone development and fracture healing. Mutations in the gene that occurs in a configuration with other members of the gene family on the long arm of chromosome 7, can with a malformation ( " split-hand/split-foot " ) be connected.

Interaction

DLX5 showed protein-protein interactions in DLX2, MSX1 and Msh homeobox 2 on.

Mutation

Mutations in DLX5Gen involved in Ectrodactyly.
