Dmitri Dashinski

Dsmitryj Uladsimerawitsch Daschtschynski ( born November 9, 1977 in Minsk) is a Belarusian freestyle skier. He specializes in the discipline Aerials ( jumping). In the season 2005/ 06 he decided the appropriate World Cup discipline rating for himself, he also won at Olympic Games and World Championships every two medals.

Biography

His World Cup debut had Daschtschynski, 9 December 1995 in Tignes, where he jumped to 14th place. The best result in his debut season was a seventh place. On January 25, 1997, he succeeded the first podium with third place in Breckenridge in a World Cup competition. In the 1997/98 season, he curtailed his participation in order to prepare for the 1998 Winter Olympics; in Nagano he won the bronze medal.

The first World Cup victory could Daschtschynski celebrate on January 17, 1999 in Steamboat Springs, the second followed in Heavenly one week later. At season's end he could not confirm his favorite for the World Cup in Hasliberg and jumped to eighth place. In the winter of 1999/2000 was a third place finish his best result. At the 2001 World Championships in Whistler, he won the silver medal behind compatriot Aljaksej Hryschyn. Added to this was his third World Cup victory a week after the World Cup.

Daschtschynski was not in the World Cup Winter 2001/ 02 on a sixth addition, at the 2002 Winter Olympics he finished seventh. Although he was able to achieve a further podium in the season 2002/ 03, but otherwise he has never been better classified in 13th place. Better was Daschtschynski for the World Cup season 2003/ 04, with two wins, two second and one third place. Another World Cup victory was added late in the season 2004/ 05, at the World Championships in Ruka, he missed the podium in fourth place just.

His most successful season was Daschtschynski in winter 2005/06. He won four World Cup competitions and so decided the discipline rating for themselves. At the 2006 Winter Olympics, he won another silver medal, which he had to give only the Chinese Han Xiaopeng defeat. The Belarusian Post subsequently published in his honor a stamp. His total third silver medal he won at the 2007 World Championships in Madonna di Campiglio, in turn, behind Han Xiaopeng.

In December 2007 Daschtschynski opted for the eleventh time a World Cup event in itself; it is so today his last victory. Over the following two winters him still get three podiums, but his performance level gradually began to sink. At the 2010 Winter Olympics he finished in eleventh place. Due to injury, he was unable to start in the 2010/11 season. During the 2011/12 season he jumped first regularly in the top 10 until he ( after a break of more than four years ) succeeded the twelfth World Cup victory of the season end.
