Dmitri Kondratyev Jurjewitsch (Russian: Дмитрий Юрьевич Кондратьев; born May 25, 1969 in Irkutsk, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian cosmonaut.

Kondratyev took in his youth flight hours in an aviation club in Alma Ata. In 1986 he completed his studies in a high school in Alma Ata, whereupon he entered into a pilot school of the Soviet Air Force. After graduating in 1990, Kondratiev served for several years as a pilot for the Russian Air Force. During this time, Kondratyev flew seven different types of aircraft such as the MiG -21 interceptor and air superiority fighter MiG -29 and Su- 27th Furthermore, Kondratyev, with over 150 completed jumps trainer for skydiving. On admission into the cosmonaut team, he held the rank of colonel.

Spaceman activity

Kondratyev was appointed in December 1997 to Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Zvezdny Gorodok near Moscow, where he completed a two year training to test cosmonaut. Later, he was classified for the reserve team in the fifth long-term crew of the International Space Station ( ISS). He was substitute for Sergei Treschtschow, who started as a Flight Engineer for ISS in mid-2002. Following this, Kondratyev should, according to the original plans act as flight engineer of Expedition 13. In the wake of the Columbia disaster, the mission was, however, the European astronaut Thomas Reiter allocated so that Kondratieff May 2006 to April 2007 worked as operations director of the Russian space agency NASA 's Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Kondratieff was a member of the support team for the ISS Expedition 19, after which it was in May 2007, substitute for Roman Romanenko as commander of Soyuz TMA -15 Flight Engineer of ISS Expeditions 20 and 21

He trained also for a stay aboard the International Space Station. Originally it was intended as a Flight Engineer of ISS Expeditions 25 and 26, however, was announced in October 2009 that Kondratyev will be 27 commander in the Expedition 26 flight engineer and ISS Expedition. During the preparation of ISS Expeditions 24 and 25, he was a replacement for Soyuz Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin.

On 15 December 2010 he started as commander of the spaceship Soyuz TMA -20 to the ISS. On January 21, 2011 he made together with Oleg Skripotschka his first spacewalk. On 16 February 2011 he made also with Skripotschka his second spacewalk. Here, the Russian part of the station were further equipped as well as several experiments mounted or salvaged.

With the decoupling of Soyuz TMA -01M on 16 March 2011 Kondratyev took over the command of the ISS Expedition 27 It ended with the disengagement of Soyuz TMA -20 on May 23, 2011. Several hours later, on 24 May 2011 to 02: 27 UTC Kondratyev landed with Coleman and Nespoli in Kazakhstan.
