Dmitry Anuchin

Dmitri Nikolayevich Anuchin (Russian: Дмитрий Николаевич Анучин; * 27 Augustjul / September 8 1843greg in Saint Petersburg, .. † June 4, 1923 in Moscow) was a Russian geographer, ethnologist and anthropologist.

In 1867 he graduated from the University in Moscow, where he taught from 1880 Anthropology and in 1884 was appointed professor. He established the Museum of Anthropology and director of the Institute of Geography. In 1890, he became president of the Society of Lovers of Natural History, Anthropology and Ethnography in Moscow. Since 1896 he was a member of the Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg.

In 1915 he published the first thorough account of Humboldt's Russian- Siberian trip from 1829.

According to him, the Anuchin Glacier in Antarctica and a crater on the Moon are named.
