Dolna Odra Power Station

The Dolna Odra power plant in a coal power plant in northwestern Poland on the territory of the municipality Gryfino ( Pommern ), near the village of Krajnik ( Budde Brock ) on the German -Polish border.

The power plant consists of eight blocks, two with six 220 MW and 232 MW. Blocks 1 to 4 went into operation in 1974 and the blocks 5 to 8 in 1977. Since 1993 the plant was modernized. In 2000, the blocks 7 and 8 were equipped with new control systems of Pavilion Technologies and ABB. Since October 2002, the flue gas is cleaned from the blocks 5 to 8 through a flue gas desulfurization system of Lurgi Lentjes. Currently, the plant has an electrical power of 1832 MW and a district heating power of 100 MW for the community Gryfino.

The power plant site has three chimneys with a height of 250 meters, 200 meters and 170 meters. Another 250 -meter high chimney was dismantled. The operator is planning two new gas-fired power plants with a capacity of 432 MW.

On January 24, 2010, a coal dust explosion killed one employee and injured three others, also a part of the coal supply has been damaged.
