Dominique Probst

Dominique Probst ( born February 19, 1954 in Paris ) is a French composer and drummer.

The son of actress Gisèle Casadesus studied at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he in 1978 won the first prize in percussion. In the following year he was awarded the Composition Prize of the Fondation Lili Boulanger.

Since 1973, Probst solo drummer is the Orchestre Colonne. He also teaches at the Conservatory of Levallois -Perret and was from 1978 to 2000 professor at the Conservatoire de Paris. In 2009 he gave a master class at the University of Boulder / Colorado.

1986 awarded him the Académie des Beaux -Arts for its opera Maximilian Kolbe by an unpublished book by Eugène Ionesco with the composition prize Marcel Samuel -Rousseau. The work was filmed for television and received in 1990 the price Nouveaux Talents Musique of the Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques and 1991 the Orphée d'Or of the Académie du Disque Lyrique National.

His second opera, La petite sirène to a libretto by Marguerite Yourcenar was premiered in 1993. On a trip through Australia and Vietnam came to a libretto by Duong Le Quy Opera Motherland, which premiered at Festival of Melbourne in 2002 and the Prix Paul-Louis Weiller Musique was the Institut de France awarded.

2004, the world premiere of his Symphony of Bulles with 450 international instrumentalists and singers took place. Several years stood his L' Ile de Lumiere on the board of the Orchestre Colonne, 2007, the work of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte- Carlo and the Orchestre de Picardie was played. In the same year, the first performance of his Te Deum was held under the direction of Martin Moulin Festival Solstice d'hiver in Alençon.

Probst was awarded the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
