Don Adams
Don Adams ( Donald James actually Yarmy; born April 13, 1923 in Manhattan, New York City; † 25 September, 2005 Los Angeles ) was an American actor.
Life
Donald Yarmy served in the Second World War as a soldier in the U.S. Marines in the Pacific. He was infected when landing on Guadalcanal with malaria. After the war he made a career as a stand-up comedian. When he in 1949 married his first wife Adelaide Efantis that occurred under the stage name Adelaide Adams as a singer, he took her pseudonym and changed his name to Don Adams.
His television career began in 1948 he gained worldwide fame in the role of secret agent Maxwell Smart ( Agent 86) in the comedy series Mini -Max (Original Title: Get Smart). , Which was filmed between 1965 and 1970 in the U.S. and later, among others, also ran on ZDF. For the role, he won 1967-1969 three Emmy Awards and was nominated again for a Golden Globe. He also appeared in serious plays on Broadway. His greatest success as a voice actor, the role of the cartoon character Inspector Gadget, which he lent his distinctive voice in the original version from 1986 to 1999. In addition, he was even shown in the 1972 TV series " New Scooby Doo Movies" as a cartoon character.
Adams died in 2005 at the age of 82 years at a lung infection in a hospital in Los Angeles. Adams was married and divorced three times and had seven children. His daughter Cecily Adams died in 2004.
