Dora Alonso

Dora Alonso, actually Doralina de la Caridad Alonso Pérez ( born December 22, 1910 in Matanzas, † March 21, 2001 in Havana ) was a Cuban journalist and writer.

Life

Alonso was a daughter of David Alonso Fernández and his wife Adela Perez de Corcho Rodríguez. After the first attempts at writing during high school, she was in 1933 on the editorial board of the newspaper " Prensa Libre ". Politically interested and engaged, she joined in 1934 the anti- imperialist organization Joven Cuba to made ​​there, among other things also met with Constantino Barredo Guerra.

During this time, Alonso began writing for various radio stations and it emerged from this period, their first children's books. Later, her two novels " Tierra brava " and were "Soy el Batey " filmed.

At the age of 91 years Dora Alonso died on 21 March 2001 in Havana and found their final resting place.
