Doris Bures

Doris Bures ( born August 3, 1962 in Vienna) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ) and the Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology in the Cabinet Faymann II

Career

Doris Bures attended a trade school in Vienna and worked first as an assistant in a dental practice. Her political career began in 1980 when she took on the function of the Federal Secretariat of the Socialist Youth. In 1987 she moved into the district parliament of Vienna Liesing, 1990 in the National Council. In Liesing it is 2009 district party leader since March. SPÖ national director, she was from the year 2000 to January 2007 and again from June to November 2008. Member of Parliament she was from November 1990 to January 2007. Bures are long- standing political companion and one of the closest confidants of the former SPÖ federal party chairman Alfred Gusenbauer.

On 11 January 2007 she was interim Federal Minister without portfolio from March to June 2007, the Federal Minister for Women, Media and Civil Service of the Federal Chancellery ( after the German Federal Ministry for Health and Women had been dissolved ). Since December 2008 she has been on the Federal Minister for Transport, Innovation and Technology of the Federal Government under Chancellor Faymann and was re-elected in 2013.

Private

She was romantically involved for 24 years with the media manager Wolfgang Jansky, from which they separated in early 2008 in friendship. They have a grown daughter.
