Dorn method

The Dorn Therapy, also known as "thorn " method, is one of the Allgäu farmer and sawmill operator Dieter Dorn (* August 13, 1938, † 19 January 2011) from Lautrach near Memmingen in 1975 and developed in books and courses mediated complementary medical manual method that is somewhat reminiscent of chiropractic, however, is fundamentally different in their execution of this and also incorporates elements of the meridian theory of traditional Chinese medicine. The method is not scientifically recognized, as no evidence of efficacy exists.

Survey

According to Dorn leads the modern life to sedentary lifestyle, stress factors and ultimately to misalignments of the spine and pelvis. This is the cause of most back problems, but also numerous other ailments. In particular, almost everyone has a " pelvic tilt " the cause " to a deformity in one or more leg joints due " and was manifesting itself on the affected side in a (seemingly) longer leg.

The Dorn therapy is to correct requiring treatment functional leg length differences and bring vortices that do not were in their normal position by a slight pressure of the therapist and simultaneous movements of the patient in the correct position. Since, for each vertebra exits a pair of nerves, the lying -sufficient in the same body segment organ and tissue regions, the same positive effects were achieved in these areas. For example, in the area of the third thoracic vertebra lies the "Gate of the Wind" ( in Chinese " Fengmen "), and the supply of the respiratory system. Thus could a swirl correction in this area, the normalization of impaired respiratory function, such as asthma or bronchitis, or could cause problems in the breathing zone be due to a misalignment of the third thoracic vertebra.

Dissemination

The method is mainly used in Germany. It is used mainly for back and joint problems. Some of the Dorn Method with massage facilities by Rudolf Breuss is combined for muscle relaxation to facilitate the real deal Dorn thereby. The cost of a thorn - therapy are not covered by the statutory health insurance as there is no secure evidence of efficacy, of the private health insurance companies, however, usually have.

The Dorn method was highly influential, particularly their "soft " type of spine treatment has found many imitators. They, too, has undergone numerous developments, such as of Helga and Eberhard Popp ( Dynamic Spinal Therapy ) and Burkhard Hock ( Hock method previously Dorn Hock method).

Criticism

The Dorn therapy is not recognized by science as a scientific evidence is lacking for their effectiveness in the form of clinical trials and the postulated mechanisms have not been established. The view expressed by the mandrel users Theory In particular, a pelvic obliquity article to be caused by an incorrectly seated in the socket femoral head is led by professionals from the perspective of scientific medicine as evidence of a lack of basic medical knowledge and an entirely inappropriate mental model of the Dorn Method. In addition, at least some interventions the practitioner are not safe for all patients and it was beyond for self- application of the method as it will bubble up seminars as hesitation, come to serious medical emergencies (ibid.).

Lately, however, it should be noted also the representatives of the method a rethink. Observed differences in leg length are no longer necessarily a dislocation of the hip joint is returned ( the medically rarely is ), but to subluxations of the hip, knee and ankle joints or faults in the " ... complex interplay of bony and muscular structures ... ".

Sometimes it would be cheap, you would, before we purely makes a pacemaker, once purely make the second thoracic vertebra. (Dieter Dorn)

If I had anatomical knowledge, I would have seen it all so complicated that I would not dare much. ( Dieter Dorn, quoted by )
