Mandrel is a comune ( freguesia ) in a circle ( concelho ) of Ferreira do Zêzere, in Central Portugal.
Geography
The village lies on a pointed headland that juts into the river (Rio Zêzere ) into it. Since the construction of the dam of Castelo de Bode shortly before its confluence with the Tagus at Constância, similar to the Rio Zêzere way up behind the mandrel a long serpentine lake. From the banks rises here around the hilly, dominated by Eucalyptus and mixed forest landscape. Mandrel is 140 kilometers from Lisbon and 165 km from Porto.
History
Despite its remote location, the place was already inhabited by the Romans. The musical union Associação Recreativa Filarmónica Frazoeirense ( ARFF ) in the mandrel was founded in 1841. Economy
