Dornier Museum Friedrichshafen

The Dornier Museum in Friedrichshafen is an art museum, the (1884-1969) and the Friedrichshafen company Dornier -Werke, which has risen in the meantime, EADS, documents the pioneering work of aeronautical engineer Claude Dornier. Initiator is the third son of Claude Dornier Silvius Dornier, carrier is the Dornier Foundation for Aerospace, at the next Silvius Dornier, Daimler AG is significantly involved.

Since 2005, the Museum offers a wide Dornier aircraft, models and other exhibits has collected, presented since opening on July 24, 2009 in a modern museum building with 5,590 m² building area and a 25,000 m² landscaped park directly at the airport Friedrichshafen. It covers company history, production, and aircraft models, including the Dornier Do X. Attached is an archive and a library with reference to Dornier.

Architecture

The floor plan of the Museum hangar represents a taxiway turnoff to the airport Friedrichshafen

It was designed by the architects Allmann Sattler Steelers; the light installations designed by the space and light artist James Turrell, who is also connected private aviation and Dornier.

Direction of the Museum

The first museum director, Christina Becker, handed over the leadership of the House April 1, 2010 to Berthold Porath, among other things, was responsible for the event " Classical World Bodensee ".
