Dorothea Marie of Saxe- Gotha -Altenburg ( * January 22, 1674 in Gotha, † April 18, 1713 in Meiningen, Germany ), was a princess of Saxe- Gotha -Altenburg and by marriage Duchess of Saxe- Meiningen.

Life

Dorothea Marie was a daughter of Duke Friedrich I of Saxe- Gotha -Altenburg (1646-1691) from his marriage to Magdalena Sibylle (1648-1681), daughter of Duke Augustus of Saxe - Weissenfels. The princess was very carefully trained and received instruction in religion, science, languages ​​and music.

They married on September 19, 1704 in the peace flintlock their cousin, the later Duke Ernst Ludwig I of Saxe- Meiningen ( 1672-1724 ), with whom she had become engaged in May this year.
