Dorsiflexion

The term dorsal (synonym: dorsiflexion ) stands for:

• The movement in the wrist toward back of the hand ( contrary palmar flexion )
• The movement of the foot in the ankle in the direction of the feet ( contrary plantar flexion )
• The movement of the toes upwards ( opposite: plantar flexion )

The backward bending of the spine is properly referred to as reclination.
