Dortmund–Enschede railway

The train route Dortmund- Enschede ( regionally known as " Westmünsterland train" ) is an international railway line, which was built by the former Dortmund -Gronau - Enschede railway company from Dortmund to Enschede in the eastern Ruhr area in the Netherlands.

History

The Dortmund -Gronau - Enschede Railway Company (short DGE) began the construction of their range east of the city of Dortmund, so that first the main route Dortmund -Hamm the Cologne -Minden Railway Company (short CME) had to be crossed, the Dortmund DGE Station called last station Dortmund Ost.

The first section to the (former) station Lünen North was opened on November 25, 1874, the passenger began more than a week later. From Lünen to Gronau limit, the route is single track, not electrified and downgraded to branch line since 2007.

Today, the section Lünen -Gronau limit is part of the DB regional network Münster- East Westphalia (MOW ), headquartered in Münster.

Train services

The route is today served 51 Westmünsterland train every hour from the RB. The train crossings take place in Luedinghausen, Coesfeld and Epe.
