Dortmund-Kruckel station

The Bahnhof Dortmund- Kruckel lies on the border between the towns of Dortmund and Dortmund Kruckel - Persebeck.

History

It was opened in 1897 as Kruckel of the Prussian state railways and originally served as a loading station for the colliery Wiendahl Bank. From 1905, passenger trains stopped here. 1949, the train station in Dortmund- Kruckel has been renamed.

Today it holds the operated by DB Regio NRW GmbH S5 S-Bahn Rhein- Ruhr every half hour. In connection with the conversion of the old regional line N33 on today S5, the platforms were increased to 76 inches. Access is indeed accessible, although wheelchair users can not reach the S5 with an entry height of 96 centimeters unassisted. It consists of two tracks, which are accessible via side platforms. An art building between the platforms does not exist because the tracks can be crossed by the neighboring railway crossing Kruckeler road ( see picture ). It is a through station, which is on the 1848 opened by the Bergisch- Märkischen Railway Company railroad Elberfeld- Dortmund. From an operational perspective today is a breakpoint. The operating points symbol is EDKR ( Railway Board Essen, Dortmund - Kruckel ).

Vehicular importance

The breakpoint in particular opens up the Dortmund Districts Kruckel, Persebeck and partially Witten Districts Rüdinghausen and on the snow. Due to the circular movement of the bus line 448 of DSW21 there is only a rudimentary feeder services for the outlying station.

After the restaurant was abandoned in the former terminal building after 35 years by the owner for reasons of age, the building is located, together with the on the other side of the railway line Park & Ride car park for sale. The former restaurant building has since been demolished.

Until 1988 there was also a regular long-distance trains. At the opening of the S -Bahn lines 1 and 2, the long-distance trains would have to cross these commuter rail lines in the Dortmund main railway station there at the same height. To prevent this, the German Federal Railroad built a short new route between Dortmund and Bochum Dorstfeld - Langendreer. The volume of traffic in Dortmund- Kruckel has since declined significantly. Today, long-distance trains and the Wupper - Express operate only on the Dortmund- Kruckel when it comes to a road block and the trains must be redirected. For a long time there was also freight transport in Dortmund- Kruckel station, especially because of the sidings of the neighboring companies. Many features of the single-car traffic came from Dortmund harbor or from the yard Hagen- porch over Dortmund- Kruckel to serve companies in Witten and Hagen.
