Dougie Freedman

Douglas " Dougie " Freedman ( born May 25, 1974 in Glasgow ) is a former Scottish footballer and current coach of the English second division club Bolton Wanderers. Between 2001 and 2002 he played twice ( a hit ) for the Scottish national team.

Playing career

Barnet FC and Crystal Palace

After Freedman emergency times received at the Queens Park Rangers in the first team, he moved in 1994 to the English fourth division FC Barnet. In Barnet, he quickly advanced as a more accurate attacker and scored until the end of season 24 league goals. On 8 September 1995 it undertook the second division side Crystal Palace. Also, two leagues higher was the 21 -year-old Freedman ( 20 league goals) put his marksmanship and evidence and moved with Palace in third place in the play-offs of the Football League First Division in 1995/96. In the final, the club but Leicester City defeated with 1:2 and thus missing out on promotion to the Premier League. In the following season reached Freedman ( eleven league goals ) and his team with a 1-0 victory in the play-off final of the Sheffield United promoted to the top flight. After he was not as they had hoped to advantage in the first round of the Premier League 1997/98, he moved on 17 October 1997 on loan to second division club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest

After two hits in the first two games, the Wolves committed him already on 21 October 1997 on a firm contractual basis. Freedman scored until the end of the season 1997/98 a further nine league goals, but missed as a table Ninth promotion to the first division and therefore joined the second division champions Nottingham Forest.

Coaching career

Crystal Palace

In March 2010, Freedman took over the post of assistant coach at Crystal Palace. After the dismissal of coach Paul Hart at the end of the season 2009/10 he retained this position under new coach George Burley. After the dismissal of Burley on 1 January 2011 Dougie Freedman first took over as interim head coach of the items at second-bottom. On 11 January 2011 he was officially introduced as the new coach. During the Football League Championship 2010/11 he secured with his team just to avoid relegation. After he had established his team in the season 2011 /12 in lower mid-table, he led Palace in the first round of the Football League Championship 2012/13 on a promotion place.

Bolton Wanderers

Despite this success, Dougie Freedman decided on 25 October 2012 at a move to Bolton Wanderers. The Premier League relegation had separated on 9 October 2012 from his coach Owen Coyle as the team was significantly retarded under him short of expectations.
