Dozen

Dozen ( altgr. δώδεκα dodecahedron, twelve ', about MHG TOZEN ) denotes a figure of twelve.

It was used in German-speaking countries, particularly in trade. Other previously used units to the base 12 are the shock ( five dozen, ie 60 ), the majority (twelve dozen, so 144) and the measure (twelve Gros, ie 1728).

Bakers dozen, Fleischer dozen or dozen devils are synonyms for thirteen.
