Dracaena reflexa is a species of the genus of dragon trees (Dracaena ) in the family of asparagus plants ( Asparagaceae ). The specific epithet reflexa means (Latin reflexus ) rotated backward - bent '.
Description
The plant forms a trunk, often multi-stemmed branching. It can be about 4 to 5 feet tall, rarely up to 6 meters. As a houseplant, it remains, however, much smaller. Dracaena reflexa is relatively slow-growing. The leaves of Dracaena reflexa are wrong - lanceolate shaped and about 12 to 16 cm long. The leaves are green, and leathery and at the base of from 1.5 to 5 cm wide.
The small flowers are white and are in racemose inflorescences.
Systematics and distribution
Native is Dracaena reflexa in Mauritius, Madagascar, Mozambique and several other islands in the Indian Ocean. As an ornamental plant as well as an indoor plant, it is widely used today.
The first description was in 1786 by Jean -Baptiste de Lamarck. Synonyms for Dracaena reflexa Lam. Dracaena reflexa var typica are H.Perrier (1936 ), Draco reflexa ( Lam.) Kuntze (1891 ), Lomatophyllum reflexum ( Lam.) Boii (1837 ) and Pleomele reflexa ( Lam.) NEBr. (1914 ).
The variety Dracaena reflexa var angustifolia possesses different from guy to wear magenta (instead of white ) flowers and their leaves are olive green.
Use
In Madagascar, the plant is a medicinal plant used in traditional medicine.
