The Traufrecht is an easement reserving to the owner of land is granted the right to drain the rain water on the neighboring estate.

This right is limited to the cases that lead to a deterioration of the state of the neighboring property, eg if the risk of ice is raised to neighboring walkways through the water.

The eaves and the Traufrecht are regulated in some neighboring country's laws closer, for example in Baden- Württemberg ( § § 1 et seq ), Brandenburg (§ § 52 ff ), Hesse (§ § 26 f ), Lower Saxony (§ § 45 f ), North Rhine -Westphalia (§ § 27 et seq ), Rhineland -Palatinate ( § 37 f ), Saarland (§ 25), Saxony -Anhalt ( § 33), Schleswig -Holstein ( § 26) and Thuringia ( § § 37 f ).
