The Drever is a recognized by the FCI Swedish breed (FCI Group 6, section 1.3, Standard No. 130).

Origin and History

The basis for the breed, the German Westphalian Bracke roof, a little run dog who was imported to Sweden in 1910. To this end, crossed a breeders of Sweden, Finland and Norway related hounds from England, the nearby Baltic countries and Switzerland. 1947, the Drever was recognized as a Swedish breed. The name comes from the Swedish Drever " drev ", which translates as " hunt " means. It is the smallest Swedish hunting dog.

Description

The Drever is a small hunting dog with harsh coat that is tight and straight on the body. There are different coat colors with white markings, but plain white or liver brown animals do not belong to the race. The ears are rather low set, of medium length, broad, pendant and without wrinkles fitting closely to the cheek with rounded tips.

Use

The Drever is used as a hunting or Beagle. He hunts track noisy, not very fast but very safe with a fine nose. Inventories are valued on the dog in the first place roe deer but also deer, foxes, hares and rabbits. It is held almost exclusively as a hunting dog.
